Hi everyone. My name is Tashera James. I'm trying to raise some money to help my mother Kaye Mason come up with money for housing her, my daughter, and my mother's home heath aide.
Currently they are homeless. It's a long, crazy, sad story. So here it goes.
Everything went crazy back at the end of 2009. I became sick with schozoaffective disorder. My husband, my daughter Kayeleigh's father, left and I was unable to care for my daughter myself because of the effects of my illness. So my mother got custody of my daughter who was 3 at the time.
Our family decided that the best plan of action was for my mother to quit working and to care for my daughter and myself because there were so many appointments. In the first month we only had 3 days without appointments and most days there were 3-4.
My grandparents bought a house for all 5 of us, them, my mom, daughter, and myself. With the thought in mind of everyone being able to help each other. Everything was going well for a while.
Then my uncle, his wife, and their 4 children moved in because they couldn't find a place to live and needed help watching the kids.
In 2016 my daughter's father went to prison. He was charged and convicted of kidnapping and raping a 12 year old girl and raping his 2 year old son, by another woman, and pandering obscenity involving a minor. He was sentenced to 48-life in prison. He's where he needs to be. His family is not involved in my daughter's life. They quit coming around about a year after he was arrested.
In 2017 my uncle's wife died. She had leukemia. Leaving my uncle and grandfather to raise those children.
Then in 2020 we discovered that I had stage 3 chronic kidney disease because of the lithium the Dr put me on for my disorder.
In May of 2022 my mother developed a blood clot in an artery in her leg. Because of the blood clot she got gangrene in her right foot. She had to have all her toes removed on that foot. She was in a nursing home for 3 months. About a week later I fell and broke my leg. It was a break where you couldn't walk on it so I needed constant help so I was also in a nursing home as well. I was in there for 3 months healing.
Then in November of 2022 my mother had her first heart attack. It was an nstemi which means it was caused by outside stress. She was in the hospital for a month getting intensive physical and occupational therapy.
Then in April of 2023 my mother and myself were taken to the hospital. She went to Anderson and I went to Clermont. They took her to Anderson because her symptoms were consistent with heart issues. We were not sure what my problem was.
They quickly discovered that Mom had another heart attack and soon the tests results came back and showed that I too had a heart attack. We both had that surgery a day apart from each other.
The Drs said that I have congestive heart failure stage 3 as well as cardiomyopathy and coronary artery disease and that I had a heart attack at the age of 36.
Mom apparently has a deformity in her heart as well as having another heart attack. They released Mom to go home and then 2 days later, I went to the nursing home. I was in there from April until June receiving physical and occupational therapy.
I was doing well when I came home. That lasted until the end of July beginning of August. When August rolled around I was sick. We didn't know what was wrong but I lost about 40 lbs between the time I came home in June until August.
To start out September, we learned that I had 2 blood clots. One in my left leg, the other in my right lung. I was in the hospital for a week and was sent home with in home physical and occupational therapy as well as a visiting nurse.
While a visit from occupational therapy was occurring at my home my blood pressure went crazy. I had 4 different readings some high, some low, within minutes of each other. My heart was also skipping every third beat. I was so weak that I couldn't get out of a chair. Back to the hospital I went.
While in the hospital my right leg stopped working completely. They never really figured out why. But back to the nursing home is where I found myself. My leg wouldn't function for about 3 weeks. They also identified that I had some brain atrophy.
While I've been in here I have had pt/ot/speech. I have progressed a lot but still have a little bit longer time to partake in therapies. I've already completed my speech therapy.
On October 1st my mother was served an eviction notice from my grandfather for no apparent reason. There was never a lease agreement. Then because of no transportation my mother missed court while I was in here in the nursing home. Therefore the eviction was approved. My mom and daughter left home at the beginning of November. My grandpa's lawyer had made arrangements that my grandpa would rent a uhaul and we would move our belongings to storage. Well, November 7th rolled around without any help from my grandfather. He won't allow us to get our things. So they do not have much of anything.
No car, no real personal items, memories, pictures, furniture, household things, clothing they have some but not a lot.
We will need a lot of help. They have exhausted all avenues that we know of. Family, Churches, and community agencies don't have funding. They've ran out of money for hotels rooms and are also low on food. We have been approved for a section 8 voucher but it is not available until April 30th. We have until then to figure out where they are staying each night.
Any money received from this fundraiser will go to putting a roof over their heads, food in their bellies, clothing on their back, transportation to find a place to live, moving expenses, deposit on a rental apt, furniture, and household necessities. If there is anyway you can find it in your heart to help we will be extremely grateful. Thank you all. God bless! We know He will prevail and guide you and us in the way this situation should be handled.
