Hi, I'm Sara Peterson, and I'm reaching out to share my story with you.

Last year at 32, I received a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer. Like many people facing a serious illness, I quickly learned that fighting cancer involves two battles at the same time. One for your health, and another for your financial stability.

Over the past year, I've completed six months of chemotherapy and underwent a major surgery. While I'm grateful for the progress I've made, my treatment journey isn't over yet. I still have radiation therapy ahead of me, along with more surgery that's necessary for my recovery.

The biggest challenge I'm facing right now isn't the treatments themselves, but keeping up with insurance premiums. While there are grants and assistance programs available for some medical costs, insurance premiums often fall into a gap where help is hardest to find. Yet maintaining coverage is crucial for accessing the ongoing care I need.

I've always been independent and never imagined I'd need to ask for help like this. But cancer has taught me that sometimes we all need a community to lean on.
