Meet is my sister Amy. This beautiful photo was taken many years ago before she became ill. She was diagnosed with lymes disease over 10 years ago and she desperately attempted to find help for her disease until she exhausted her resources. She moved in with my mother who lives in Brentwood CA, about an hour east of San Francisco. My mother snuck her into the 55+ mobile home park where she resided and took care of her to the best of her ability. About 4 years ago, my mother was hospitalized for a brain tumor. After the surgery and recovery, my mother came back to her home. At which time my sister moved into the role of live-in caretaker which was a win for both their situations.
More recently, my mother was hospitalized for a sudden onset paralysis to her entire boby. An MRI found that she had burt discs in her neck and surgery would be required to remove the discs. However, it was discovered in surgery that my mother not only had 2 burst discs, she also had an infection on her spinal cord. The surgeon removed all he could without damaging her spinal cord, however, she has not been able to regain movement to her limbs and is now a quadriplegic and will not be able to come home.
As terrible as this is, Amy is now on the verge of becoming homeless. The mobile park will not allow her to stay with my mother not coming home. Attempts were made to sell the mobile and all the proceeds were to go to Amy to purchase a mobile or trailer in an all age park or on a piece of land somewhere. All options fell apart when we received news from multiple developers that due to the current Covid pandemic and the fact that there are multiple mobile homes for sale in this community, that are just not selling, the developers do not feel comfortable purchasing the mobile. With that said, ultimately we will have to walk away from the mobile with zero money. What was a potential 50K sale turned into a big Zero.
I am asking for help raising money for my sister to purchase a stable home and enough money to pay space rent for at least a year till she can get back on her feet financially. This is a hard time for this family and a little help would be forever treasured.
