Giving Kimmee Hope

Last year Kimmee had a migraine. After getting sick at work she went to see her Dr who suspected there was something more. A scan revealed everyone’s worst nightmare. A tumor in her left jaw muscle. Even after a biopsy, a failed surgical attempt to remove the mass, and countless CT’s, MRI’s, and other tests, Dr’s in her home state of WI could not diagnose what exactly the tumor was. It could not be removed because it is wrapped around major nerves that control the use of half of her face. After more scans showed the tumor was growing her oncologist decided it would be best for her to seek consult at the DANA-FARBER CANCER CLINIC in Boston. So she did. She has traveled to Boston 3 times in the past 9 months, returning the last time just 2 weeks ago. The last round of testing and scans in Boston showed the tumor has doubled in size since January and, despite the danger of nerve damage, must be removed as it is starting to take over glands in her cheek. Her Dr wants her to return to Boston next month for the surgery. She will need to stay there for 2 weeks before being cleared to fly home. After the surgery she will not be able to return to work for at least 2 months. Kimmee and her husband have exhausted anything extra they had during the first 3 trips to Boston. They are in the process of selling their home because they can’t afford to keep it due to medical bills from a serious health issue their son experienced. They are literally down to nothing left. This is going to devastate them monetarily.

Kimmee and I met after our husbands were stationed together in the Navy. We became instant friends. I want to help them and this fundraiser is what I came up with. I’m not saying I can raise enough for everything but maybe I can raise enough to get her back to Boston. Please help this family. Her husband served his country for 15 years and now they need your help. Anything will help.
