Two months later, not much has changed for our family.
My uncle is still being detained in Adelanto, away from the people who love him and depend on him. He's now been there for months, and while we continue to stay hopeful, the legal process has been long and difficult. His next hearing is scheduled for the middle of June, and we're doing everything we can to make sure he has the legal representation he needs.
My uncle has lived in the U.S. for over 20 years. He's always been a hardworking man who never asked for handouts. Even after suffering an injury that cost him his steady job, he kept working alongside my dad doing gardening work despite the pain. Every morning he would wake up before sunrise and go to work because providing for himself and helping others is simply who he is.
Not having him here has left a huge hole in our family. We miss his presence, his kindness, and the way he was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
We're still raising funds to help cover attorney fees and other legal expenses as we prepare for his upcoming hearing. Any donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to giving him the best chance to fight his case. If you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you to everyone who has supported, donated, shared, and kept our family in your thoughts. We are truly grateful and remain hopeful for a positive outcome.
