We, the Wohnverein, sometimes referred to as Wohnsatellit, are a community housing project under the official name of Türkis Rosa Lila Villa, marking the first association that was formed following the queer anarchist squat of the Villa in the 1980s.

We are carrying on the legacy of queer and trans activism of the Villa. As one of the few spaces in Vienna that has been centering QTI*BIPoC for the last decade, we focus on community oriented anti-capitalist ways of living together while rejecting western colonial systems of individualism.

We are 11 people that call the Villa our home. All of us are in precarious financial situations (some more than others) due to structural discrimination. Because Wohnverein believes in community and chosen family we have created several solidarity rooms. As a part of our community we are trying to not only provide a physical living space but also take care of each other. This includes daily costs like groceries, medicine and unforseen costs that arise. Without the community, the house and the chosen family we are creating for each other, none of us would be able to afford living in Vienna.

Now we've come to a financial situation where we cannot fund the solidarity rooms or the care work that comes along with being a community, alone.

On top of that the DIY renovations have not been updated since the 80s, which forces us to prioritize repair costs with our limited funds which we would much rather invest in community.

These costs include, for example;

Broken windows (latches, insulation, glass)

Clogged pipes

Electrical issues and more things that come along with an old building.

So we are reaching out to our broader community, especially those with financial stability. Help us to continue the legacy of Wohnverein by supporting the maintenance of the house, the people living in it and the community safer space we and the Villa have been providing for over 40years.

Wir, der Wohnverein, manchmal auch Wohnsatellit, sind ein Gemeinschaftswohnprojekt mit dem Vereinsnamen Türkis Rosa Lila Villa und der erste Verein, der nach der queeren anarchistischen Besetzung der Villa in den 1980ern geformt wurde.

Wir setzen das Vermächtnis des queeren und trans Aktivismus der Villa fort. Als einer der wenigen Räume Wiens in denen QTI*BIPoC zentriert werden, fokussieren wir uns auf Community orientierte anti-kapitalistische Wege zusammen zu leben und gleichzeitig westliche koloniale individualistische Systeme zu verwerfen.

Wir sind 11 Leute, die die Villa ihr Zuhause nennen. Alle von uns sind, wegen systemischer Diskriminierung, in finanziell prekären Situationen, manche mehr als andere. Da der Wohnverein an Community und Wahlfamilie glaubt, haben wir mehrere Solidaritätsräume kreiert. Als Teil der Community versuchen wir nicht nur einen physischen Raum zu geben, sondern uns auch umeinander zu kümmern. Das beinhält tägliche Kosten wie Lebensmittel, Medizin und nicht vorhersehbare Kosten füreinander zu übernehmen. Ohne die Community, das Haus und unsere Wahlfamilie, die wir füreinander etablieren, könnte niemand von uns es sich leisten in Wien zu wohnen.

Jetzt sind wir in einer finanziellen Situation angekommen, in welcher wir weder die Solidaritätsräume noch die Care Arbeit, die Teil des Zusammenlebens ist, alleine finanzieren können.

Dazu kommt noch, dass die DIY Renovationen seit den 80ern nicht erneuert wurden, wodurch wir gezwungen sind Reparaturen mit unseren stark limitierten finanziellen Ressourcen zu priorisieren, welche wir viel lieber in Community investieren würden.

Diese Kosten beinhalten bspw.:

Kaputte Fenster (Fensterriegel, Dämmung, Glas)

Verstopfte Abflussrohre

Elektrische Störungen und mehr Probleme, die mit einem alten Gebäude einhergehen.

Deshalb wenden wir uns an unsere größere Community, vor allem die, die finanzielle Stabilität haben. Helft uns das Vermächtnis des Wohnvereins fortzuführen, indem ihr die Instandhaltung des Haus, die Menschen die hier wohnen und den Community safer space den wir und die Villa seit 40 Jahren zur Verfügung stellen, aufrechtzuerhalten.
