Support Kayla's Healing Journey

My name is Shane Axel. Kayla Peterson is my spouse, my partner in crime, and together we have the most beautiful baby boy, Rory, and a house full of animals!

On May 20th, Kayla had excruciating pain. We went into the emergency room for the pain. We found out that Kayla’s gallbladder needed to come out. It was enlarged and had plenty of gallstones, so it’s what was causing the pain.

In normal circumstances, we should've had the gallbladder out, gone home, and our life would return to normal-ish with new diets!

Well, it did not happen that way. We went home on the 22nd, getting meals planned and ready for a good weekend. At roughly 2 am, Kayla woke up screaming in the worst pain ever, worse than the pain she had from the gallbladder being inside of her.

We called the ambulance; they took her to the hospital, and here is where the real story begins.

From May 24 through July 13th, Kayla has had 4 more surgeries and has been in the hospital for 45 days. She hasn’t been able to fully hold our beautiful baby boy for more than 3-5 minutes without it causing her severe discomfort. She has 2 amazing children from her previous marriage: Kayla's mini-me, Murphy, and fire child, Joel! Kayla was able to spend the day at home for a while on Murphy's birthday and was home for a week before a hospital visit turned into another round at the hospital.

In the last 65 or so days, Kayla has not worked. With all of the medical bills and costs for everything else, any donation at this point is beyond greatly appreciated towards the full recovery for Kayla. She has lost the time with our newborn, Rory. She missed the end of school for Murphy and Joel, and has missed out on all of our summertime fun that we normally do because of this unfortunate and extremely stressful time.
