Árámgáh - A place for tired trans people to rest

Donation protected
I wish to build a place where transgender, genderqueer, intersex, non-binary, agender, two-spirit, gender non confirming people can take a breath. Where they can heal from the state of exhaustion that comes with being transgender and the discrimination trans people face every day. It is important to point out that what makes it exhausting is not being trans, but how society treats people because of it.

Árámgáh is Persian and means "place to rest". It is what a dear friend named the idea when I told them about it and they held my exhausted body in their arms.

Because the prospect of having land to create the Árámgáh is far away, these are the stages:
 PREP STAGE:
- Writing grant proposals and gathering strength, knowledge & skills for the stages to come
- making a fundraiser & website for the Árámgáh
- getting enough funding & expertise to get started on stge I:

STAGE I: THE VAN
In the first stage, the Árámgáh will exist in the form of a van, traveling throughout Europe with three main goals:
- networking: connecting with trans* people & building a network (check out this networking project QUEERS WHO )
- documenting: the "Glückseeligkeit Project", a documentary film about the joys of being trans* or of "other" genders
- community space: bringing the Árámgáh spirit to tired trannies wherever they are
skill sharing: having building labs to create access to craft and knowledge for people of marginalized genders

STAGE II: THE CARAVAN
In the second stage, the Árámgáh will (hopefully) have multiplied and have many supporters to help publicize this crowdfunding. The documentary will be released. The van (and maybe other vans and vehicles as well) will continue moving through geography and find places to screen the documentary, network further, and carry the dream of the Árámgáh into the world.

STAGE III: THE ÀRÀMGÀH - FIRST DWELLING
In the third stage, a place for the Árámgáh has been found. The crowdfunding campaign has brought in enough money for the construction / remodelling / making of the first settled Árámgáh.

What the Árámgáh is:

Some of the core principles are:
- Sustainability : To build and use the space as sustainable as possible.
- Accessibility 1: Coming to Árámgáh should never require money, or productivity.
- Accessibility 2: The Árámgáh will be built to support as many access needs as possible.
- Space to grow: To create a loving, healing environment whilst staying cautious about internalized patterns of discrimination we might bring in from the outside world.
...to be continued as the journey grows

Dreams for the (far) future of Árámgáh
- to run an art residency program
- to have a skill-sharing-festival

Come here, ungendered heart,
and Rest

Lay down in the shade of my labor, your pain
Lay down, take a break from waiting for change
Lay down
Your flags that brighten up concrete walls
Your smile that enlightens the subway halls

Let go of those that let go of you
Be reminded you need to save only you

Take a breath
And be here
For the rest of the week or the rest of the year

The softest pillow of thankful thoughts
A nurturing meal of broken laws
Entitled to all the luxurious linens
and pralinés for the fights you have been in

Climb me like the rock you have been for your siblings
And when you get to the top, don’t look for beginnings
Find between the lines of the grind you are already there
You are the always
You are the where
