Cambodian New Year ATX 2016

We are a collective of first and second generation Cambodians who are here to bring back the most important celebration of the year, Cambodian New Year in Austin, TX! Our grandparents and parents traveled to America, most as refugees from the oppression and war of their time, and persevered and carried on the traditions of the motherland year after year for us all. As the future of Austin’s Khmer culture rests on our shoulders, we have come together to bring back what we once would be ecstatic about all year long as young children. Throughout the years, we’ve grown up, attended college, and have started our own families. Now, it is our duty to preserve and grow our culture the way our elders have graciously carried out for us.
With tenacity like our elders, our small organization combines the power of team creation to take what we have been taught, and manifest our own representation of today’s culture. We are currently all volunteering time out of our every day to bring back the love and passion to the Khmer community, organizing 2016’s new year celebration.
Here is why we need YOUR help:
We’ve got the committee to carry out the processions of the celebration of Cambodian New Year, but we need capital to make it the best celebration of the year for YOU ALL.

What your donations will go towards:
A real Cambodian band playing traditional and modern Khmer music for you to dance the night away to
Rental equipment for the event
The event will be free of admission costs, while food and beverages up for purchase. All board members and event staff will all be volunteering their time to bring to you this wonderful annual celebration. Any additional donation funds going over this year’s budget, will roll over to the following year’s celebration!
