Eye Surgery for Maple Bacon
Maple is much more than a pet, family member, or my toddlers best friend. Five years ago, I had a negative reaction to anti- depressants that I was taking, that left me in emotional heap looking for non-ssri ways to combat my depression. Upon getting married, my husband bought me a puppy who we trained to recognize my moods and sooth them when needed. I have not had to take pills (or even feel tempted to return to ssri's) since adopting Maple. She is part of the solution to my happiness.
Maple has always been in good health, but recently she's had some problems pop up due to hereditary problems in her breed. We have always been able to provide the best care for her, but with our return to school (read: living off student loans) and a new baby on the way, we are finding it difficult to fund her current medical problem. It's just been really poor timing, but arn't all health conditions like that?
What Maple has is called Cherry Eye. Sometimes, for reasons unknown, a dogs third inner eye lid will come inflamed and pop out. It has happened before, but we have always managed to massage it back in with successful results. Usually, it causes little to no pain for the pet. This time has been different and the eye lid has become swollen and infected, causing her to be unable to open her eye at times and creates discharge which I clean out hourly. She will almost definitely need surgery to tack the eyelid back down to avoid the constant infections.
I've always tried to put good out into the world, helping others where I can. From providing family portraits for families who can't afford them, to creating logos for start up companies for free or discounted rates because I understand how hard it is to start a company. I believe in helping people achieve what they cannot on their own. But right now, I need a little help. I would be so grateful for anyone who could help us, help Maple. I want to give her the best care possible for the best life possible. For anyone who does donate, I will forever remember the sacrifice you have made to help us, and do my best to repay it in anyway possible!
