On July 17, 2020 Tracy suffered a catastrophic stroke at the age of 41 that left her unable to eat, with slurred speech and limited her mobility. She was air lifted to the Brain Trauma ICU Unit in Vancouver with her mother Lois at her side. She received several scans and is constantly being monitored for swelling in her brain.
Tracy is now eating thick fluids and soft food, she still cannot feel her left hand and is not weight bearing on her left side at all. Her speech is improving quite quickly and we are so happy to say that she is her sassy and humorous self when she is awake and strong enough to talk with her family.
The cause of the stroke was likely due to a hole in her heart, where a clot broke through and travelled up to her brain. She is currently waiting to get her heart looked after.
Tracy will require extensive therapy sessions for several months once she is in the clear. When she is finally able to return home she will need in home care and many adjustments to the home to accommodate her mobility restrictions.
We are asking for your help in supporting her and her family while Tracy takes on this new challenge. Right now she needs her family with her, and your generosity will give them the ability to support her in Vancouver without having to worry about how they will cover the expenses that will start to overwhelm them.
Please join her family and Friends in rallying together to raise the funds necessary and support #Team Tracy.
