Relief Fund for Adel Chavez and Jamie Rodriquez
Adele Chavez is a 65 year old widowed mother of 5 children, grandmother to 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She is the guardian and caregiver for Jaime Rodriquez, her 50 year old special needs brother. Jaime is loved and admired by his 7 siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and anyone that has ever met him. The two were involved in a horrific home explosion in Waxahachie, Texas on September 21, 2015. They were both severely injured with burns, and their house and all of their belongings were completely destroyed.
This fund is set up by their family to help Adele and Jaime cover the mounting medical bills, as well as purchase essentials items for them to rebuild their lives. The road to recovery for both is going to be a long and hard battle.
The family would like to first thank God for his glory in sparing their lives, the wonderful neighbors that came to rescue them and render aid, and everyone who has included them in their thoughts and prayers, as well as providing gifts and donations. We are often asked by friends, family, and well-wishers, “How can I help?” Keeping them in your prayers is the most that we can ask. If anyone feels compelled to provide a gift; a donation would be greatly appreciated and provide the most value to them during this period of healing, rehabilitation, and rebuilding.
Adele remains in the Parkland Hospital ICU and has been experiencing complications. She receives daily treatments for her burns that are excruciatingly painful, and she will have to undergo a second surgery soon for more skin grafting. Jamie was released from the hospital after 3 days, but has to have his burns treated every day. He continues to be traumatized by the event, and is struggling to understand that there is no home, as he knows it, to go home to.
We are so grateful for everyone’s support as we struggle to make sense of this event and look for answers from those that are responsible, but do not appear to be taking responsibility.
