Hello, i’m writing on behalf of our uncle, Greg Dionicio aka “UG”.

UG was on his way home from work on Thursday morning when a truck t-boned him in Benicia at 7am. He was rushed to John Muir where he went straight into surgery for his left leg. The nurses said that when they received him, they were so shocked that he was still so alert given the severity of his injuries. He had broken his femur in three, shattered his tibia and fibula, broke his ankle and foot, three of of his ribs and when the doctor went in for surgery they found that his popliteal artery was obliterated. He went in for his second surgery yesterday morning to clean up any dead tissue and I got a call from the doctor that everything below the knee was already necrotic and they had no choice but to amputate below the knee. They are going to let him rest and on Monday go back in to clean it up some more and see if they need to amputate above the knee and place the metal rod into his leg for his broken femur.

UG has been with a lot of us through elementary and high school because he was the uncle that took us to the movies, Friday night basketball, our first concert and even bought me my first car. He is now doing the same for my girls and they are constantly looking for him. He is their world. Last week Kenzie told her teacher that he was going to be in the hospital for a long time and that broke my heart. Help us pray for UG, for the strength to get through this major change and for fast healing.
