Hi everyone! As many of you know, our RK went in for her FOA (frontal orbital advancement) at the end of August. While the surgery was very successful, she is suffering from severe skin necrosis covering about 50% of her scalp. Her plastic surgeon was able to get a great advancement in her forehead, which was much needed to give her eyes protection and brain some more room. But in doing this, it was extremely hard for them to close her ear-to-ear incision. Because of the pull and extreme stretch to her skin, it caused a lot of her scalp to die.

Rylie has begun Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments to hopefully revive the dead areas of her scalp and help her body heal. She has to be in the oxygen chamber 5 days a week for a few hours each day. The nearest hospital that offers this for pediatrics is in Walnut Creek. So, she and my parents are staying in Airbnbs Monday through Friday each week near the hospital. They will continue to do this until the doctors feel like enough healing has taken place. As of right now, it's very slow, but we believe it's going in the right direction and we will see complete healing in the next couple of months.
