Hello,
My name is Jolynn Thompson and my grandson is Silas.
Silas is fighting for his life currently at Loma Linda University, in Loma Linda, California.
Silas is facing many issues, the most immediate being a Giant, ruptured omphalocele, and being born at 34 weeks, his lungs are not fully developed. Most premature babies have their organs inside of their body and those organs give resistance against the babies lungs, which helps them grow strong. Unfortunately with Silas, due to his ruptured omphalocele, he did not. Most omphalocele’s don’t rupture like it did with Silas. Most of his organs have been floating around in amniotic fluid for a number of weeks. This includes his stomach, intestines and liver. His liver herniation is much larger than they anticipated.
Over all, a lot going on.
Mary delivered by C-Section on 2/22/22. When she was discharged her and Jay (Silas’ dad) have been at the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda. A huge blessing. This Go-Fund-Me is to help them keep going, pay bills etc. while Jay is off work to take care of Mary, and be present for their son. God willing this baby continues to survive!
“Fixing” his omphalocele, takes years and years!
and they’re taking this one day at a time. First concern being his lungs right now.
