When my awesome nephew Thomas set out on his incredible feat of running a marathon in all 48 English counties (plus four more), I thought I'd show my solidarity by trying to do the same distances on my bike here in Copenhagen.

Since then I've managed 48 marathon rides, plus 12 marathon days and clocked up over 9000 km. Obviously this is a lot easier than running, but seeing Thomas achieve his remarkable goal and raise valuable funds for numerous different causes close to his heart, it seems a shame not to do something constructive with my own efforts.

This is why I'm asking you for donations to the European Cancer Community Foundation. This is a cause close to my own heart, based on first-hand experience and that of all too many people close to me, and almost certainly something that has affected someone you love too. Being British, but based in Denmark, I wanted to contribute to something that crosses borders and supports initiatives across the full spectrum of cancer treatment - prevention, early detection and care - for patients, survivors, caregivers and loved ones. It would be lovely if you would help, wherever you are.
