Devin's Recovery
Donation protected
On Tuesday May 25th, our friend and my boyfriend Devin Thorpe was seriously injured in a house fire. He was somehow able to run through the flames that burned down his house and about 70 acres of surrounding land. Through some combination of bravery, adrenaline, and luck, Devin escaped with his life, which is the most important thing. His house and possessions were destroyed.
Devin sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns to about 40% of his body, including his face, neck, forearms, hands, shins, and feet. He has been in the ICU getting pain medication, supportive care, and wound cleanings daily. His road to recovery will be more painful than most of us could imagine, but so far he has been doing amazingly well. Devin will be getting skin graft surgery to promote healing, and will need to be in the hospital for at least a month or two, if all goes well. Despite this tragedy, he is strong willed and determined to recover.
Every day when I visit him, Devin shows me an incredible amount of strength and resilience. The pain he is going through rarely shows, and his outlook on this tragedy is positive. He will recover, and I will be there to help and motivate him every step of the way. I hope you will too. I created this page so that Devin’s friends can know how he is doing, and so that his dad Allen and I can give him everything he needs while he heals and rebuilds his life from the ground up.
All donations will go to his medical bills, care for when he can be released from the hospital, clothes and shoes, and anything else he will need on his road to recovery. If you can share this page or donate, please do and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you want to send Devin a card or message with well wishes, please contact me either through this page or via text or social media. He would love to hear from you all.
I ask that you keep social media messages to him to a minimum, since he won’t be able to read or respond to them often, and his hands aren’t very usable right now. I’ll keep this page updated with his progress so that you all can stay informed, and if you have any questions just contact me. I am with him daily, for as long as the hospital staff will let me stay. Again, thank you all so much for caring about Devin and for your support and well wishes. Keep him in your thoughts and send him positive energy. With all my love, Eva.
