Hi friends! As you all may know by now, Bubba, the love of my life and dog of my soul, has taken a turn for the worse. Tuesday morning, we woke up to the little man scooting like a caterpillar with loss of control of his bowels. I thought he was fully paralyzed and that we had come to the end of his beautiful time here with Michael, Leia, and me. It’s been a really hard week emotionally, just seeing him in pain and frustrated at his body for not letting him chase squirrels and play with his sister. The vet said euthanasia if he had a dead spinal cord (myelomalacia) or immediate surgery if it was disc-related. We just got his results back from the MRI and HUZZAH, it’s a herniated C5 disc in his neck that needs urgent surgery. My boy is going to be okay and just needs extra care and rehab after surgery but should be able to walk and recover in 3 months. My heart is so relieved that this is something that can be fixed and he won’t be in pain. The love that Michael and I have for him is absolutely irreplaceable. But the love that Bubba has for anyone he’s ever met is also unmatched. As you can imagine, none of this is easy financially, and I’ve had to be gone from work to care for Bubba. I will be posting sourdough sales to DFW friends to supplement, but please consider donating funds for his surgery this coming Monday. LET'S HELP BUBBA WALK AGAIN.
