Back in March of 2024 my father Angelo experienced his second heart attack as a result of two blockages in his arteries.
His first heart attack occurred back in January 2017.
After many tests and appointments with the Cardiologists, Surgeons and Specialists it was determined that an Open Heart Double Bypass Surgery was recommended due to the severity of his condition.
In the early hours of July 3rd my father went into open heart surgery which took approximately 6 hours to complete.
Considering the circumstances recovery had seemed to be going fairly well.
All of this changed rapidly around 2:00 AM on July 4th.
My father had suffered a stroke.
He was rushed into emergency surgery to remove the blood clot from his brain.
The blood clot removal was a success thanks to the fast acting Surgical Team and ICU nurse who identified the signs early on for prompt intervention.
While recovering from the second surgery, my father began to experience severe pain in his chest.
It was another heart attack.
He was rushed back in for surgery to remove the blockage from his heart.
While doing so additional complications arose which lead to excessive bleeding during the procedure.
The Surgical Team once again acted fast to control the bleeding.
Following these surgeries while recovering, doctors noticed that his left leg no longer had a pulse.
Off to surgery he went once more.
Thankfully, this procedure was a success!
The following day, my father went back to surgery to have his chest cavity closed back up and to have some tubes removed.
Within less than 48 hours, my father went through 4 extensive surgeries!
This has been the longest and most terrifying 48 hours for our family.
It has been an emotional rollercoaster and an eye opener for us all.
Following the procedure to close up his chest, the incision where it was wired back together began to bleed excessively.
This began to concern the doctors and it was expected that he would need yet another surgery if the bleeding continued as it was.
Thankfully, the bleeding got under control without surgical intervention.
My father’s medical team has informed us that about 30% of patients who undergo open heart bypass surgeries will have complications with A-Fib.
Unfortunately, my father is part of that 30%.
He has had numerous episodes of A-fib which requires medication to control.
Despite all that he has went through, recovery finally seems to be within reach!
He continues to surprise the medical staff with his great efforts and small victories!
Though the road to recovery will be anything but easy.
We are asking that our family and friends donate to help relieve the financial burden for Medical Expenses, Rehabilitation, Loss of Wages for my mother to care for my father full-time, and any unexpected expenses that may arise.
Our goal is that they can focus on healing without the stress of financial burden.
To those who can’t donate, we ask that you please share this post or say a prayer for our father.
We believe in the power of prayer and know each of them are being heard by our faithful Lord.
Our God is so good!
Thank you for the continued prayers.
God Bless!
