My 21-year-old daughter was in a fire two nights ago. A candle went up in flames in her and her roommate’s bedroom, and she tried to help put it out. Her noble yet unqualified efforts helped contain the fire to just the bedroom but caused her to sustain 1st & 2nd degree burns on her hands and feet. She will luckily make a full recovery once the burns heal.

However, she lost everything... clothes, shoes, toiletries, furniture, her living space... her safe space.

Her 22nd birthday is next week.
