Jana’s Cancer Journey
Jana Reddick is 29 years old and has been surviving cancer since 2019.
In 2019 Jana was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer). Soon after, her cancer moved to her lymph nodes and mamory chain behind her heart. As a result, Jana received 9 rounds of chemotherapy, 30 rounds of radiation and a radical mastectomy.
Jana finished her radiation in 2020 and thought the battle was over and she had beaten cancer. Her chemotherapy lead to avascular necrosis of the hip which resulted in a hip surgery and eventually Jana will require a hip replacement.
Now in 2021, Jana’s cancer has metastasized to her L1 vertebrae in her spine. This form of cancer is inoperable but treatable with radiation and other medications to help keep the cancer from growing and spreading. This means she will have to travel to and from Halifax regularly for radiation treatment due to requiring a higher dose of radiation that is not offered here in Cape Breton. Jana’s medication prices have increased dramatically and one of medications alone is $1500 every 3 months. Jana is still clawing her way out of debt from her previous battles with cancer and she does not have health insurance or benefits to cover the costs.
This is where her friends and family are stepping in and asking for help to support her ongoing journey to conquer cancer. Please feel free to donate and share ❤️
