Update from Cheryl:
Dear Dan, and all who have contributed,
Honestly, I don’t know how “thank you” to all of you will ever be enough. I’m grateful to Richard for sharing my plight with you and making this gift possible for me as well.
With a mobile home, we’re automatically in Zone A, so evac-ing was a given when Milton became a Cat 5. I went north to my sister’s Virginia home, a 2-day trip, and awaited news that power was back on before returning.
Post evacuation, I learned the eye of the storm went right over the community and it was exterior damage from wind effects that impacted more than water. The carport roof, plus the lanai framing that attaches to the main house had been blown away.
I’m waiting for the roof tarping to stave off future rain until adjustors and contractors can do their work. A small roof leak is pending resolution; large tree branches just missed the house and have been trimmed; a few other concerns are minor by comparison.
All told it looks like repairs will be significant and your donations to help me mitigate are such a blessing.
Thank you again, Cheryl
October 17th Updates:

Update from Dan:
Thank you for the outpouring of support!
When we launched this fundraising campaign a week ago, our immediate priority was Richard. As you saw in the picture attached to the appeal, his home was rendered uninhabitable. We have since learned that Cheryl’s home is also uninhabitable.
The Rivo Board decided to compensate each staff member for the hours they lost during the storm, but that doesn’t begin to cover their relocation expenses.
When I sat down with Richard to go over this earlier in the week: a) he was blown away and b) he suggested that we consider sharing the proceeds with Cheryl.
With that in mind, we are updating the GoFundMe page to reflect the additional need and have raised the campaign goal to $7500. If you have already given for Richard’s benefit, and if you are able, we ask that you make an additional contribution to the fund to get us to the expanded goal.
We have begun disbursing funds to Richard and will work on that with Cheryl as soon as practical.
Thank you.

Update from Richard:
I would like to thank everyone who came together to assist me in this time of need, making the seemingly impossible – probable.
I’m truly honored and thankful to have a group of such wonderful people in my life. Though words can never truly express my gratitude, always know I’m thankful to each of you, evermore.
Sincerely,
R. Graivshark
Original October 12 Appeal:
Hello Rivo Community Members:
Once again, our building weathered a major storm.
But some in our community have not fared as well.
Our super Super, Richard, ended up with a power pole in his bedroom.
Richard was one of the last to leave on Wednesday before the storm. He was here on Thursday assessing damage. I ran into him at 6 am Friday, already at work resetting alarms and clearing debris.
Richard needs a new home and has unexpected relocation expenses.
This GoFundMe is a way to show our appreciation and support. Please give generously. All funds will go directly to Richard (less the tiny GoFundMe credit card processing fee. GoFundMe may ask you for a 'tip' to cover their expenses, but you do not need to add one).
And yes, we'll all still give generously in a few months for the holiday bonus appeal.
But this need is now.
Please give now. As of this writing, we are already 20% to our goal. Please consider sharing with others who may have weathered the storm with you at Rivo.
