Riverwood Hornets D-Day Commemoration Service in Normandy
Donation protected
The Riverwood Hornets have been invited to participate in the D-Day Ceremonies in Normandy France to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Allied invasion into France.
The Riverwood Hornets is part of the Australian Cadet Corp, a voluntary youth organisation, and are the only Australian Marching Band invited to the event. The Band travelled to Hawaii in 2019 and participated in the 78th Anniversary of the Bombing of Pearl Harbour.
The cadets are honoured to represent Australia at this important and historic event, remembering the approximately 3200 serviceman who served and supported the D-Day Landings.
The financial cost for the band to travel to the event costs around $7,000 per person, as well as costs for the musical instruments and other equipment. The Cadets are fundraising to subsidise the members in this event. We are looking to offset as much as the cost as possible.
