Riverside Speech & Debate Showcase 2023
Tax deductible
The Riverside Speech & Debate Showcase is an end-of-season fundraiser where the best performances of the season are performed by members of the team on stage for all to see! Family and friends are encouraged to attend the live Showcase in the RHS Auditorium on April 13. Debate will be featured from 4pm-5pm. Speech performances will begin at 6:30pm. The audience will "vote" with a donation for the best performance. If you can't be with us, you can still donate on this site. Be sure to indicate the name of the student or house (in the comments section) on whose behalf you are donating. Donations are tax-deductible.
Your generous donation will help us keep our costs low and participation in Speech and Debate affordable for all the students on our team. Our team of approximately 50 students has been affected by the rising cost of entry fees and transportation expenses since returning to in-person competition.
Debate will feature: Nuha Shaikh, Randy Cho, Neeharika Ramasubramanian, Kirsten Easler, Krteyu Ramanathan, Zane Holley, Rebecca Han, Rachel Hensel, Stephanie Hu
and Isabella Murillo.
Speech performers include: the teams of Avi Bhatia & Fox Vickery, Mathieu Sleiman & Artem Feno, and Ana De la Llave & Shanik Miedreich all in Duo Interpretation, Kai Tucker in Informative Speaking and Dramatic interpretation, Charline Monnier in Novice Reading, Samantha Mamrick in Dramatic interpretation, Kretyu Ramanathan in Impromptu Speaking, Valeria de la Llave in Humorous Interpretation in addition to Claire Cullen and Shanik Miedreich in Program Oral Interpretation
Riverside High School, Greer, SC, has one of the nation's largest and most competitive speech & debate programs. Our students, representing almost every demographic imaginable in a public high school, compete in a rigorous practice and tournament schedule that runs from September to June. Most competitions require travel to other states, and that gets expensive. In addition to practicing and competing, students raise money by selling cookie dough and coupon books, performing in plays and showcases, washing cars, and hosting spirit night profit shares at local restaurants. The team's dedication to practice and fundraising has paid off in 12 consecutive state championships, national trophies, and college scholarships. More importantly, our students develop communication skills and a base of knowledge that will serve them for a lifetime. Your support makes this possible.
