River Northcutt's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas last year tiny River Northcutt was “born inside out” as Moms Renee and Robin Northcutt describe it. His bowels, liver, and part of his stomach are outside of his body in a condition known as “omphalocele”.

River was 24 days old the first time his Moms got to hold him.

It has been a rollercoaster first year.
From the very beginning River showed incredible strength and courage as medical teams tried to keep him stable.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Dallas Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital was his home for the first three months of life. Highly skilled medical teams successfully managed his frequent respiratory “coding”, feeding tube, and pain management like angels.

River’s tiny lungs were too small to handle breathing so he was given a tracheotomy and became vent dependent at two months old.

River’s sunshine personality keeps melting the icy fear during his medical ups and downs.

He transferred to a transitional hospital “Our Children’s House” at three months old and was allowed to GO HOME for the first time two months later, just in time for his Mom’s first Mother’s Day!

River’s miraculous homecoming at five months old.

River requires skilled nursing care at home and returns to Children’s Hospital as needed for infections and complications.

He has also started the process to expand his abdomen making room to turn his precious body right side in! If all goes well closure surgery will be March 2019!
River’s first Halloween costume. Next year? With God’s help he will be ready to fly in his first cape!

In time the vent and trach will be removed along with the feeding tube. River will learn to breathe, eat, and talk all on his own!

True to his name River goes with the flow during so many challenges!

God willing there will be no long-term disabilities or challenges once River makes it through this omphalocele obstacle course. He will have quite the scars to impress his friends!
Such a cool guy already!

Renee and Robin's strong and constant faith has breathed life into River, trusting God by believing, knowing, and choosing gratitude in every situation.
This poster was blank on the hospital wall when River was born. His Moms, family, friends and medical team members added all the words to describe the mighty River!

This season of gratitude Team River lead by Cindy Cason, Shani Northcutt, Malia Love, Amy Brackin, Amanda and Caitlin Barringer are celebrating River’s miraculous life and we hope you will join us!
