Sex change! Gender reassignment! Vaginoplasty! ✨Pussification ✨ Call it what you want, I'm doing it. I have a surgery date booked in January and your help goes a long way to make this dream come true.

I'm River, and I'm fundraising for bottom surgery. Every donation helps me achieve something I have wanted my entire life. Putting this out there is really personal, and honestly somewhat embarrassing. But I realised that to actually make this happen, I need to ask for help. And if you hate TERFs, donating to me is a really good way to get back at them.

I transitioned at 18, and since then I've lived in 3 countries and had to find my own way through trans healthcare. Even getting access to hormones has been a struggle at times, and having surgery always felt out of reach. I waited six years in the UK's NHS Gender Identity Clinic and never got any closer to surgery. In 2025, after the Supreme Court ruling, I left the UK and moved back to Berlin. I needed out of an environment of hate towards trans people, and I was tired of waiting on a medical system that systematically lets us down.

Moving made it feel like a weight was lifted. For the first time I feel I'm not in fight or flight and I can actually see a future for myself. I want to take care of myself and live the life I want. That's why I decided to make bottom surgery a priority. To make this dream a reality, I have booked a surgery in Thailand on January 20th. Choosing to have the surgery in Thailand means I can have it with less wait, at a better price, with some of the best doctors in the world.

A little about me

I'm originally from California, and I've lived in San Francisco, London, and Berlin. I love maps and public transportation (cliché). Mostly I like laughing and making other people laugh.

Sport is really important to me. There's nothing I love more than playing sports and then going to the pub for some pints. I played football in London until last year when I started playing camogie (If you don't know it, check it out. It's the best sport ever). I still play camogie for my team in London and I am flying back for matches this season, hopefully to win the championship this year. Though sport has been a positive thing in my life, fear of exclusion from sport is something which causes me constant anxiety. Having this surgery will help me to play the sports I love with less fear.

I work for the Swedish Left Party on software used by political and trade union organisers across Europe. The organisations we work with are fighting to improve the conditions of working class people, which is something I'm proud to be a part of. I also care a lot about housing justice, and do activism around social housing and digital mapping for housing rights. I just completed a GIS course and I made a transit routes guessing game (https://routle.city) which has been featured in collaborations with the SF transit agency Muni. Because my work and passions are generally for social causes, I don’t have a very high income, and affording this surgery only feels possible with your help.

Costs

I’m hoping to raise €17,000. With this money, I will be able to cover most if not all of the cost of the surgery and other things needed to make it happen.

The surgery is at a private hospital in Thailand, and I will need to pay for flights, a hotel for when I’m recovering, food, medical supplies, and the surgery itself.

Below is a breakdown of the costs, to see what you would be helping me to pay for:
  • Surgery: €13,000
  • Flights for me and my chaperone: €2,000
  • Hotel stay for one month of recovery: €1,000
  • Food: ~€500

So far I have spent a good chunk of my savings on the following:
  • Psychiatrist appointment and referral: €600
  • Deposit for surgery: €1,300
  • Laser hair removal: €500

My good friend is coming with me to make sure I'm ok, to tuck me in and kiss my forehead at night, and to entertain me while I'm literally lying on my fanny. That means flying them out and putting them up too. They work for a charity supporting migrant workers, and they will help anyone who needs it. Contributing to this fundraiser also means helping them to help me.

Your support means so much, and I am grateful for every donation. If you are unable to donate sharing a link still helps. Please share this with your family, friends, or on social media.

Love, River
