Rito's Emergency Fund

Please help us give Rito another chance at life.

On Mother's Day, our recently rescued pup Rito excitedly pushed out of the side gate before a walk and ran into the street where he was struck by a car.

Putting him down this early in his short (and previously hard) life because my mom cannot afford this expense would be completely heartbreaking.

His right femur and pelvis are broken. The $5,000 will cover the estimated cost of emergency services and surgery expenses.

This is an incredibly large sum of money and any donation is appreciated.

Rito's front legs and internal organs seem to be in good condition, given the circumstance.

Last year, my mom adopted 3-year-old Rito from the ASPCA in New York City in hopes of finding a furever-friend for our Pomeranian and a new little nugget to spoil. He was the only dog at the organization without an ounce of interest or any potential adopters and was missing a patch of hair on his right hip from biting due to nerves and stress. He was timid and scared, running away from new people and barking at strangers. However, my mom decided to see his personality in action. He was brought out to the meet-and-greet room and immediately took a liking to Winnie, our Pom. My mom wanted to give him a better life and hoped he would flourish in a well-loved home.

Over the past several months, Rito has gone from a timid and scared city pup to a happy, loving, lick-your-face "little lab" with lots of space to play. Bringing him home from the ASPCA we had to use a trail of hot dogs and coaxing words. Now, he happily walks on a leash with his best fur-pal and is my mom's little shadow. He will play an endless game of fetch with you, cuddle up when you're ready for bed, and loves a good back scratch (in exchange for some kisses to where ever his little face can reach as a "thank you").

We would love to get Rito the care he needs and bring him home.

Rito + Winnie play-wrestling before they settle in for bed.
