Rita's Return to Health

Donation protected
Covid19 hit her hard. It latched onto her and as I write this, she is spending her 42nd day in the hospital's intensive care unit. Due to hospital visitation restrictions, she has been battling this villainous disease without the benefit of her family by her bedside. She has not felt the touch of her husband, nor children, nor her parents, sisters, extended family, nor friends or colleagues for forty-two days thus far.

But Rita Crowder is spunky. She's got gumption and enough innate determination to beat this disease. She has a team of nurses and doctors working tirelessly to help her stay alive and return to her family, sooner rather than later. She has a legion of family & friends rooting for her recovery! When she eventually learns about the multitudes of people praying and lighting candles for her, and those who are making snow and sand angels in her honor, and others who are helping to care for her family during her absence, she will be overwhelmed with gratitude! Social media messages, texts, phone calls, and cards sent to her are all evidence of humanity at its best and most compassionate nature.

We believe that with every passing day which Rita spends in the hospital, she is one day closer to recovery. In recent days, she has given us clues that a time of recuperation is coming. She has wiggled her toes, she has briefly opened her eyes, and she is being weaned off the ventilator. Eventually, she will no longer need ECMO treatment or the feeding tube.

Rita will need physical and occupational rehabilitation. Her recovery will be lengthy. She will need to be closely monitored and assisted for months to come.

The pricetag for Rita's medical care will be hefty. She and David are fortunate to have health insurance, but it will not cover all the necessary expenses associated with her return to good health.

Rita and David have worked all of their lives. Like most parents, they have sought to provide a good home, basic necessities, and proper education for their children. They have a 16-year-old daughter in high school and an 18-year-old son who just completed Navy bootcamp last week. They are generous, kind people who have been active in their church and community.

And Rita happens to be one of the best sisters any little sister could hope to have! With Rita and Bonita as sisters, I hit the jackpot!

I recognize the positive impact Rita has had on the lives of so many people, including my own. This go-fund-me page is a way for all of us to contribute toward her renewed well-being and the health of her family. I invite all who know her to give an affordable donation in her honor.

I am grateful for your consideration of this special request.

Please accept my wishes for a joyful and meaningful Christmastime and healthy New Year for you and yours.
