Help Rita recover from a stab & rob incident!

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Lily and I started this GoFundMe to help a good friend of mine, Rita raise some funds to help her recover from a stabbed and robbed incident. All the proceeds will go towards Rita's monthly bills, food, and medical needs.

Rita before incident

After:

On September 30th, 2023, around 9pm, Rita was on 60th Street and 7th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. She was checking the time on her phone and having a cigarette. Out of nowhere, a man comes behind her and stabs her right hamstring, causing her to collapse immediately dropping her phone. The man then yanks her purse off of her and stabs her again but, this time on her left back. He takes off with her purse and phone. A good samaritan decides to chase after him.

Rita was in shock at the moment and did not know what to do as she had blood gushing out from her legs and her back. She needed an ambulance, she needed police, she needed help. She walked a block and asked an Asian lady for help, she ignored her and said "No, I am not calling the police." Rita walked some more and now, she thought she was fainting into death. As she was blacking out, the samaritan that was chasing the criminal, turns back, finds Rita, and dials 911.

The cops and ambulance arrived really quickly. The ambulance took Rita and the policea took the samaritan in their car to try to see if he can recognize the criminal walking on the street. YES, they found him and locked him up.

YES, THE CRIMINAL WAS ASIAN. This was not a hate crime at all. Also, can we take a moment to wonder... why was this incident NOT covered by any major NYC media? Is it because it was an Asian to Asian incident? And yet, this was covered and shared between Asian media and communications apps.

Although this incident happened 2 weeks ago, Rita is still recovering and has a long way to go. She did not want to ask anyone for donations as she felt embarrassed but, she realized she does not have extra funds to pay for rent, pay for food, pay for utilities, or pay for medical needs that are not covered by her insurance. She decided to go do part time as a server a week after the incident but, blood started gushing out the wound and was rushed to the hospital again. The doctors informed her to stay home until the wounds has healed, which will take 6-8 weeks.

As Rita is a bartender and not fired from work, she is unable to claim unemployment. As soon as she is healed and gets the OK from the doctors, her work is waiting for her to come back but, until then.. she has zero income. It is not just the physical aspect but, a mental one as well. When asked about the incident with friends and family members, she cannot stop tearing up reliving the moments of being stabbed, the fear of passing out, the thought of potentially dying. The thoughts will not go away in 6 or 8 weeks, it will not go away in 1 year, it will not go away in 10 years, it will forever be embedded in her mind.

Any funds raised will go straight to Rita and she will be using these funds for her rent, utility bills, food, and medical needs.
