On Sunday, May 28, 2023, a fire broke out at the Simmons Village apartments in Johnston, Rhode Island, causing damage to multiple units and forcing at least 48 seniors out of their homes. Among those affected was our grandmother, 77 year old Rita Holmes. Unfortunately, Rita’s apartment completely burned down and she lost everything. She is now in need of help to rebuild her life and recover from this devastating event. Our family and the community are coming together to support her and others impacted by the fire, but more assistance is needed to ensure that she can get back on her feet.
