Rise to Fall - Season 2: A Musical Drama Series

Hi my name is KayCee Kelsey. I am the writer, director and lead actor of the musical drama Rise to Fall. I would like to share an incredible opportunity with you to support Season 2 of Rise to Fall. In Season 1, we witnessed Zion's rise to fame and the obstacles she had to overcome. Now, in Season 2, we get to see how she navigates life after her story has been told.

What is Rise to Fall?

Zion's rap career started with fake authenticity, but now she must learn how to maintain her image and fame as one of the biggest entertainers. To do this, Zion must tell the truth about how she stole her ex-boyfriend's music, without damaging her career any further. The truth is: Zion finds a notebook belonging to her incarcerated ex-boyfriend, King, who was an aspiring rapper. Seeking revenge for his neglect and infidelity, Zion uses his notebook and connects with Travis Knight, a mutual childhood friend and a multi-platinum record producer. However, Travis's past has affected his career trajectory, and he is now focused on redemption. Together, they use King's lyrics to make Zion one of the biggest entertainers.

Rise to Fall is a musical drama that explores universal themes, as well as social and political issues, particularly those affecting the black community. The show examines the idolization of celebrities and blaxploitation, and aims to showcase the skills and talents of local artists and creatives. It focuses on the ups and downs of being a public figure in the music industry and how it affects one's personal life. Celebrities are often put on a pedestal, making them inferior to others who are not in the public eye. The show also touches on feminism, highlighting the challenges faced by women in a male-dominated industry.

Let's make one thing clear: this story is for Milwaukee by Milwaukee. The city is resilient but sadly troubled. Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in America and is named one of the worst places for African Americans to live. You probably didn't know that, well now you do, and that's why stories like Rise to Fall are important. Milwaukee is really the Heartland, because despite all the negatives, it has some of the most talented and creative people I have ever met. It's such a shame that we don't have the resources or tools to showcase such talent in the same facet other cities do like Atlanta and LA. My ONLY goal in writing this series was a platform for us! A place for us to tell our stories. Rise to Fall is fiction but it's real to some people. It's something that people can relate to. You can say you've seen stories like this before, but Milwaukee has never had a chance to tell theirs until now. It's time to finally say we are here.
