We’re creating a documentary that shares the stories of people living with spinal cord injuries and one remarkable individual with cerebral palsy. It shares how they were hurt or diagnosed, how their lives changed, and the resilience, grit, hope, and absolute defiance that carried them forward, while they have never accepted that their lives will be sentenced to be lived paralyzed in a wheelchair.

Spinal cord injury is the one injury none of us are ever fully safe from, and when it happens, it affects not only the person but their entire family, circle of friends, and community for the rest of their lives. Their muscles atrophy, their bones experience osteoporosis, they are always cold, they have never-ending urinary tract infections, they routinely experience autonomic dysreflexia, and their immune systems become indefinitely compromised. More than 300,000 Americans are living with it today, costing an estimated $9–10 billion annually—much of which is paid through Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA, with these three sources funded by U.S. tax dollars.

This documentary will also explore emerging regenerative therapies in a responsible, educational way, including why combining different future therapies may hold more promise for regenerating their central nervous system nerve damage than any single company’s approach. No donations will pay for medical treatments of any kind. Funds will only support the production of the film and pay the featured participants for sharing their stories. If any participant chooses to pursue a therapy on their own during the production of this documentary, the participants will cover those costs themselves. Funds raised for this documentary do not go to support or promote regenerative therapies or protocols of any kind.
