Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,
On June 8th, our dear Jake Ripp and his cousin Weston were involved in a serious vehicle accident while returning from a work project near Oxford, WI. Jake had just merged onto I39 South and was sideswiped by another vehicle. Since Jake was pulling a work trailer, it was difficult to control the truck he was driving, and it rolled over several times. We are grateful that Weston’s injuries were mostly minor, but Jake experienced multiple injuries which were quite severe.
Jake was taken to UW Hospital where he spent several days in the ICU undergoing one surgery and then was moved to the UW trauma unit. The medical staff have been waiting for some of the swelling in Jake’s leg to subside at which time he will be undergoing two more separate surgeries. He is expected to have a very long rehab period and will be unable to put any weight on either of his legs for quite some time. As some of you may know, Jake was also scheduled for heart surgery in July which has been delayed due to this unfortunate accident. The heart surgery alone was going to result in a six-month recovery period.
Jake is currently in the trauma center at UW Hospital, fighting bravely every day as he begins the long road to recovery. Jake's resilience and strength are incredible, but his journey ahead is daunting and filled with many challenges.
Jake has always been a hardworking and dedicated individual, working alongside his father, Mike, on their family farm. The Ripp family is known for their generosity and support within our community, and now they need our help more than ever. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly to Jake and his family to help cover everyday living expenses, unpaid medical bills, and the cost of hiring additional farm help during Jake's recovery period.
