In memory of Edem Awo Dzigbede. It is with a heavy heart to announce that our beloved colleague and friend Sister Edem who have sadly passed away due to the cruel COVID-19 on the 19th of April 2020. Sister Edem was a blessing to everyone she came across and her love, care and sincerity will be irreplaceable.
It is humane for us to take care of her loved ones in every way we can during this heavy and trying time.
Please join us in the noble cause of donation to support the good work that Edem has done as a respiratory nurse within the NHS in the last 18 years until her untimely death. Edem's career as a nurse span over 30 year and during this time she has impacted many life's due to her dedication, hard work and the love of caring for others.
As friends & colleagues of our NHS hero Edem we would like to continue her legacy.
Our NHS hero Sister Edem joined Lewisham & Greenwich Trust in December 2001 where she was based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich until she took an early retirement in 2019. She worked tirelessly in the respiratory ward as a Ward Sister, where she was caring, dedicated & loving to all her colleagues and patients.
During her dedicated time of work on this ward, she was a role model, a mentor and most importantly a hardworking individual who denied herself and put her colleagues first to the point where she would come to work on her days off if senior cover was needed. She mentored many students and junior colleagues during this time. As a result, all staff on the respiratory ward knew there was an ‘Edem’s school of nursing’. She also sacrificed by providing cover on the ward so that her staff could go out to work functions like Christmas parties and leaving do’s.
Sister Edem voluntarily returned to Queen Elizabeth Hospital to render her service as a nurse to help with the fight against the pandemic. Unfortunately she contracted the COVID-19 virus while working on the frontline and sadly passed away at home. Sister Edem left behind a husband, three children and two grandchildren.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
