RIOTTS LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY

Hey guys I've set up this fund-raiser to help out a very special woman who due to very sad circumstances lost her daughter Lauren in 2021 and gained care of her grandson Riott. Toni is a very respected community member who has assisted many people over the years in the Junee community and its an honour to be able to give back to her in her time of need . Here is the tragic story of baby Riott.

Many of you know that I have Lauren's son living with me but may not know what else is going on with him. This is a little boy whose short life has been filled with tragedy, has remained happy throughout. His mother passed away in March 2021 and he came to live with me. Then in January 2022 his father passed away. February 2022 Goodstart Learning was concerned that he was tired all the time and we thought he had an iron deficiency. By March his health had deteriorated to the point that I was at the doctors 2-3 times a week, and couldn't get a pediatric appointment for months, so ended up taking him to the ED at Wagga where we waited for 6 hours until he was admitted. An MRI showed he had a 4cm tumour on his brain and we were immediately flown to Sydney. Since then he's had one operation after another and tried two different chemotherapy treatments, a shunt in his head to drain excess fluid and now 4-weekly trips back to Sydney that will continue until May 2024. Riott had symptoms similar to a stroke down his right side and couldn't walk, use his right hand and was continually tired. After the shunt was put in and the latest chemo trial began he can now walk again but requires physio and help to do most things. I work at Junee Council and they have been so supportive, I manage to work from home when I can and the Junee community have been overwhelmingly supportive, I can't thank everyone enough. Riott also has an MRO (multi-resistant organism thanks to ICU) which requires him to be isolated when we go to Sydney, excluding us from using the free accommodation so I have to pay for hotels each time we go. Later this month I will be there for 4 nights. All this has been life-change for both Riott and myself but one day at a time we're managing. The tumour will never go away, the chemo will shrink it (hopefully) and the shunt has already improved his mobility and lifestyle.

Let's all chip in if we can and help to make both of thier lives a little more easier by removing some of the finicial strain xx
Please share the crap out of this as she deserves all the help in the universe
