Rion Russell’s Fight Against Cancer

To my friends and family that I’ve shared incredible memories with in this life, most of you now know that what started as some compression fractures and cracked ribs turned into a much bigger health crisis. I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, cancer in my blood specifically attacking bone marrow, plasma, and good cells in my blood. It has deteriorated my bones to the point where they break with little effort and then don’t heal themselves. The pain in my bones and body I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I’m unable to walk without a walker, I’m in constant pain, and things like driving are completely off the table. My wife, Hope, helps me dress and shower, sacrificing much of her time to care for me. There is no cure; best case scenario, we fight it hard now to get to remission and keep cancer at bay if it goes into remission for the rest of my life. I will always be at risk of it coming back.

I’m first and foremost asking for prayers and support for myself, my wife, and four boys. We wholeheartedly believe God is a God of miracles and can cure the sick and heal the wounded. And no matter what the outcome, He will be glorified through this. But I’m also asking for financial donations as the medical bills are piling up, and obviously, many more are to come. $5 here, $20 there, give what you can, as much or as little as possible, the financial burden unfortunately can be as devastating as the diagnosis itself. Anything you give would be appreciated, and 100% of the donations would go to the cost of fighting this disease on a daily basis. Many of our friends live across the country as we’ve moved from city to city, and while you may not be able to be here in person to hold my hand or listen to me tell stories, you can support the efforts through a financial donation.
