Rio, Rescue Pup, Needs Blood Transfusion!
Donation protected

A week ago, Rio was brought in for a check up, they found that Rio red blood cell count was extremely low as well as his platelet count! He was put on a steroid dose to hopefully regain his blood cell count however when he went in for a blood test yesterday they found that he has become way worse. They immediately transferred me to a vet specialists in the area that quoted a single blood transfusion at $1,500-$3,000.. with the possibility of him needing multiple, as well as possibly staying overnight ($7,000-$10,000)
This is an immediate necessary... this morning he can barely lift his head and has suddenly stopped eating and drinking. I will be bringing him in to start the process as soon as I can. I am feeling so overwhelmed and sad. It would mean the world to us if you were able to help, even just a little.
Our History Together :
In early May, Rio was found roaming in Baja Mexico at Rosarito K-58 Surf Beach. We found roughly 25 ticks and did multiple lavender flea bathes, went to the local vet and got the initial round of shots. Since then we have been traveling up to Montana, stopping by in San Diego - San Fransisco- Portland and Missoula with vet visits along the way. It took awhile, he grew back his hair - healed from multiple open wounds - but he was a happy healthy pup by August. He comes with me literally everywhere. He is for sure the best shop pup and has come with me to every work event i've had.
A few weeks ago - He started becoming lethargic, coughing and throwing up randomly and decided another check up was in order. They found that his red blood cell count was at 18.. a low count is 22. With almost no platelets to be found. He is in dire need of a full blood transfusion.. maybe multiple ones. With a possible overnight stay.
