My name is Megan Ruiz and I'm a rising Senior at Ringling College of Art and Design. My goal is to become a professional Illustrator and Visual Development Artist.
During my time at Ringling I have worked as hard as I possibly can. I have been on the President's List twice and have maintained a 3.6 GPA. On top of my school workload, I also work a job during the semester. Over the Summers I work as many jobs and as many hours as I can to pay for food and art supplies.
For the past three years my family has struggled to find the money to pay for Ringling Tuition. We have been able to pull through until now. I can't find the money to pay for my last year at Ringling. I don't know where to turn and I don't have any options to get me to graduation. Ringling's tuition is $32,000 a year and it's due on July 25th.
At Ringling I have been an active member of Student Life. I work as a Resident Assistant where I have completed training in active shooter procedure, suicide awareness and prevention, crisis management, and the One Love Foundation workshop. Throughout the semester I assist a group of up to 70 residents. I plan and execute Service, Educational, and Recreational events. I have focused events on issues and vocabulary within the LGBTQ+ community. I assisted Ringling Volunteerism by putting on Halloween activities for children and teens. I am an active member of the Ultimate Frisbee Club.
I am also active in education at Ringling. I work as a Teaching Assistant over the Summer to help high school students build their portfolios for college applications. I volunteer in the Illustration Mentorship Program where I help Underclassmen Students with assignments, career advice, and motivation.
While at Ringling I have been featured in many exhibitions. I was featured in the Best Of Ringling Show and the 7th Annual Madeby Student Show in 2017. My illustration was featured on the cover of the August 2017 Ringling Parent Newsletter. In 2018 I was featured in the Ringling Sketchbook Show.
I have worked so hard for the past three years towards graduation. I have done everything in my power to improve as an artist and pay for college. But I don't have anymore options. I'm going to be in debt for the rest of my life for a school I didn't even get to graduate from. Please help in anyway that you can.
