Ashli's Medical & Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
In the early morning of April 28, 2017, Ashli began having trouble breathing. EMTs were called. By the time they got her into the ambulance, she had stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest. The EMTs got her back and transported Ashli to the hospital where she went into cardiac arrest again, this time for around 20 minutes. She was kept on life support over the weekend as the doctors tried to save her life. However, on May 1st they declared her brain dead. In accordance with Ashli's wishes, her healthy organs were donated and life support was ended. Her remains were cremated and given to the family.
Ashli leaves behind her husband, Byron; sons Ethan, 23, and Daegan, 10; and daughter Aislynn, 14.
Our health insurance and the organ donation group Gift of Hope covered a large portion of the medical bills. The portion that the family is responsible for is around $5,000.
Byron recently retired from the Army after 27 years of service but is not yet able to draw his pension (gray-area retiree, under age 60), so the household income is reduced. Our savings were depleted to pay for expenses incurred during three weeks of unpaid family medical leave and the cremation service. The outstanding medical bills are a burden beyond our ability to pay.
All donations to this campaign will be used to pay the medical expenses related to Ashli's death.
