Ring for TSTA Vice President

My name is David Ring, I am in my 19th year as a high school social studies teacher in Lubbock, TX and I am running for VICE PRESIDENT OF TEXAS STATE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION.

I'm running because I have spent my career in the classroom teaching high schoolers about our government, history, and economy while also having the opportunity to serve in leadership roles in TSTA, most-recently as Senior NEA Director for Texas. For twenty years I've listened to my students, members, and mentors, always working to be someone they can come to for help, information, or just to speak their mind.

I'm running because public education is the foundation of our society and is currently systematically being dismantled. My experience as an Association Representative in my building for my colleagues, as local president in my district with (usually against) administration, and on Capitol Hill lobbying members of Congress is something I've learned to turn into valuable information and resources.

I'm running because I want every student, family, and community to have the fair, quality, and nurturing public schools they deserve. In the last two decades, public educators have gone from revered public servants to pawns in billionaire's attempts to hijack this key democratic institution. As Vice President of TSTA will continue to be a leader for all educators across the state to protect and promote our profession.

I appreciate any assistance as we work towards April 2026 in San Marcos! Texas is big, but over the next nine months I will be traveling around as best I can to visit locals and regions to continue to listen to your stories and needs, learn about how we can do this together, and continue to be the leader our union needs today.
