Baby Riley was born August 24, 2022. On January 3, 2023, Brenna and I noticed she was breathing very heavily and her doctor sent us to the emergency room right away. Initially, doctors thought baby Riley had RSV but it turned out to be much more. Bay Area Hospital ran a few tests and next thing we knew, she was being transported by air to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital and placed on a ventilator in the Pediatric ICU. Riley has RSV, possible pneumonia, and two bacterial infections, and her right lung is nearly collapsed. Since January 3rd, Brenna has stayed with Riley in Portland, some 4 1/2 hours away from home. I have been home with two-year-old Leah, traveling back and forth to Portland as I can. We are taking it day by day. Doctors have advised that Riley will stay in the Pediatric ICU for a couple weeks to several months, depending on how she progresses. Brenna and I sincerely appreciate any help and support that can be given - and we appreciate all the warm thoughts and prayers being offered.
