Riley Medical Emergency Help

Don protégé
Riley has been Veronica's longest running relationship. He is her best friend, her baby boy, her rock. And she has no qualms with saying that to my face. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

He became ill on Thursday the 7th with some GI issues but still his normal self. After a vet visit on Friday, the vet called on Saturday and recommended he go to see and internist at the Animal Hospital as his nausea meds didn't seem to be working. The ER told us we either needed an appointment, or wait to bring him back in until the next morning on Sunday.

First thing Sunday morning at 5:30am we brought him in and he was admitted. He began to have a fever around midday and they suspected he may have Aspirational Pneumonia from his vomiting, and put him on antibiotics and said they would let us know if there were any changes.

When no calls came for another 8 hours, we decided to call at 11pm last night to get an update before bed. They had not called to tell us that he had been put into an oxygen chamber hours earlier when his blood-ox level had fallen, he has a dilated esophagus, he developed Tachypnea and that his fever and blood pressure had worsened. When we got to the hospital, his fever had become lower grade, and his breathing had slowed a bit, a sign that one of the two antibiotics may be working.

As of this morning September 11th he is stable, but we are no closer to finding the underlying cause of his sudden vomiting. So far all blood tests seem normal and we won't have another chance to get a chest x-ray until he has already been in hospital overnight for 2 days. We don't know the prognosis, nor do we know how long he'll be in hospital, let alone the ICU. The cost we've already accrued just from the past two days is over $5,000, and our new estimate for ongoing care is at least an additional $6,000, probably more.

Riley is the closest thing we have to a son, and he's a better man than I'll ever be. Veronica has been working her butt off tutoring to try to support us this last year as I recover from surgery and as the struggle of the WGA, SAG and the IATSE Unions continue. Please consider donating to help support our brave boy.

TL/DR Funds will be used to support our best boy, Riley while he's in ICU and hospital.

Updated Goal because Math is hard.
