Hi everyone, thank you for taking a look at our fundraiser. Last night Riley was the victim of a hit and run in South Lake Tahoe. She has been hurt very badly, but is alive, which we are so grateful for. We got to her just in time, but unfortunately the driver who hit her took off, and we have not been able to locate them.

We were able to get her down to an emergency hospital last night where they kept her in the ICU. She is now undergoing major surgery. She broke both femurs in the accident and is undergoing procedures to fix them both. One leg will have a large metal rod placed with screws to fix the break, and on the other side her femoral head broke at the head and neck, and her hip joint will be totally removed. She will also need pins in that leg to stabilize another break lower on the femur as well.

She will need to be hospitalized for a few days post-op to keep her pain under control and to keep her stable. She will then be able to come home, but will be immobilized for at least 4-6 weeks, and we will need to use a sling under her belly to help her move at all. She is such a vibrant young pup and won't be able to play with her sister Rue and we know it's going to be so hard for her.

The great news is that our surgeon is very pleased that she will be able to make a full recovery and still live a happy life. She will need to make adjustments to her activity levels but other than that she will go back to being a happy pup.

Our estimate for the surgery and hospital stay came out to $19,500, and unfortunately as the driver ran off, we are covering the bill. We are at the end of our rope financially with this happening and would be so thankful if you could donate any amount to helping Riley recover. It's hard for us to write this, but this time we really do need any help we can get.
