One year ago, in March 2022, everything changed for our family. Our son, Riley, was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. He was in his senior year of college at the U of Wyoming / Physiology major. Riley's prognosis is good but the road to get there is very rough - 2 brain surgeries, 30 rounds of proton radiation and he is currently on round 6 of 9 chemotherapy treatments. It's been a whirlwind from Wyoming to Colorado to Philadelphia; he's been a warrior battling everyday to get healthy again.
Along this journey we've met amazing, talented people that gave him incredible care..... the University of Wyoming Health Center, Ivinson Memorial Hospital, The University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital of Colorado, University of Pennsylvania Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia…the teams at these institutions were integral to Riley’s timely diagnosis and recovery. Beyond the medical care he's received, the support from family, friends, colleagues, the CB community and even strangers has helped a very difficult process be a little bit better to endure.
Riley was a member of Crossfit Summa in high school. He took the confidence and strength he gained at Summa with him out west where he was climbing mountains at some of the highest elevations. He is working so hard to regain his independence with the hope of climbing that next mountain and finishing up his degree.
