Riley & Brandon

Hi, my name is Alyssa. If you know me, it's nearly guaranteed you know my little sister Riley. Last week right before the new year, Riley and her fiance Brandon's life's got turned upside down. They woke up last Saturday morning 12/31 to everything they worked and own covered in the smell of skunk. I will be the first to admit when Riley called me I did not think that it was going to be as devastating as is. a little while later they came to my house with a few things in hand, I told them to get washed up and that we would do everything we can, and we will get through it. This is when it set in for me, I picked up her toothbrush and my heart shattered as I walked it straight to the trash. It was at that moment that I said to myself, a toothbrush smells like this and needs to be discarded what about everything else? As a family, we all went to work helping in every way that we can but nearly a week later Riley and Brandon are still unable to live in their home, family and friends brought clothes, and other daily necessities to get them back on their feet and we are so grateful for that! Today Riley and Brandon found out that their renter's insurance will not cover anything and have sent an official denial letter. State Farm stated, they only cover bears and deer for wildlife damage. Riley and Brandon's landlord has been helpful, however, their homeowners only cover the house itself, none of its contents. I know they are blessed- this was not a fire, and both of their health is intact but everything they have worked for is essentially a loss. If you know both of them then you know they would give you the shirt off their back. They both have worked so hard to get where they are. Both Riley and Brandon would never create a Gofundme for themselves, and they may even be a little mad that I do so, but anything helps. Riley has found a company to come in and deodorize the house (although they have stated this is not a guaranteed fixed). My heart breaks for both of them, and I wish more than anything that I was able to replace everything they own myself. Anything raised here will just help them slowly rebuild what is ruined, or needs deodorizing. Most importantly this will help give back that infectious smile and laugh back to my sister.
