It is with a heavy heart that I write of the sudden passing of my father Riley Neil Bartlett. On December 10th my father was involved in an accident that resulted in both broken legs. While in the hospital he was transferred to a rehabilitation center to wait for the swelling in his legs to go down before surgery. On December 24th two weeks after the initial accident my dad became unresponsive and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

My father was born in Boston Massachusetts but spent most of his adolescence in California. There he worked as a cook. My father loved to cook and we loved to eat his food. I hope any family and friends of "Smiley Riley" reading this who had a chance to eat his Thanksgiving dinners or the ham that he used to make on New Years are smiling. Riley was a really special person. You'd always see him smiling or telling one of his dad jokes. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone or anything.
