Hi, I’m Zee, Rihanna’s mum.
My daughter recently passed away from an extremely rare genetic disorder called FARS2 Mitochondrial disease. (Rihanna is the first case in Australia).
She spent months at a time at Westmead children’s hospital.
She went from being a normal child until the disease activated in her body at the age of 12.
She developed complex refractory epilepsy, dementia, severe tremors, loss of mobility, severe mental health issues, loss of complete independence- she became completely bed ridden and needed 24/7 care
Since her passing, I have been trying to raise funds for the CT Ward at Westmead children’s hospital on behalf of Rihanna.
When we lived at the hospital, there were no wheelchairs to get kids around from their bed to the toilet or a simple trip around the ward to give them a break from being in bed for months at a time.
Our aim is to give back to the sick children and their parents to help make their stay easier. Whether it’s an art and craft box or a Nintendo switch to pass the time or equipment such as commodes and wheelchairs to help the sick kids, we hope to make an undervalued ward feel more special!
This ward was our second home for many months and the nurses work tirelessly to make sure each child’s needs are being met.
in memory of Rihanna, I would like to raise whatever I can to help other families so they don’t have to struggle the way we did.
If you would like to be part of the change, feel free to donate to this cause and give back to sick kids and their families
