Rigby Road Tram Shed Doors
We are delighted to announce the launch of our Tramtown Vision. The Vision is based on four parts and follows the combined efforts of your donations, Tramtown Ticket sales, and support from Blackpool Council and Blackpool Transport we have now secured the finance to deliver phase one.
Phase One will deliver a new roof for a third of the Tramshed, a new head beam, a new partition wall, repairs to the gutters and drains and the relocation of the engineering equipment in the redeveloped facility. This will ensure the continued maintenance and running of heritage trams for years to come.
With your support, we can deliver an enhanced Phase One scheme with the purchase of installation of purpose-built doors for a third of the Tram shed. £70,000 buys us brand new purpose-built doors allowing us to keep the wind and rain out of the new facility creating better working conditions for the engineers and protecting the Trams stored in this part of the Tramshed. It would give us our first truly water-tight area in the Tramshed and will support our next 3 development phases.
Every penny takes us closer to our target and a safe and inspirational future for our Heritage and Illuminated trams in Blackpool.
You can be part of this exciting future for Blackpool's oldest working trams:
Funding bid work is now underway for the three other phases of Tramtown. This includes a full roof replacement for the remaining two-thirds of the depot, new doors and a brand new exhibition area including a cafe, conference facilities, retail areas and a mezzanine floor allowing visitors the freedom to walk and look down on all of the trams.
Tramtown will help support the maintenance and development of the Tram fleet as well as support regeneration in Blackpool, bringing visitors and economic growth as well as ensuring Blackpool's wonderful transport past has a great future.
