We’re fundraising for our sweet 10-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who was violently attacked by another dog during a public fundraiser event for a local rescue group.

The other dog, a much larger pit bull mix up for adoption, suddenly lunged at our puppy and grabbed him by the neck. By the time we were able to separate them, our boy had gone completely limp. We rushed him to the emergency hospital, where X-rays revealed a fractured C-1 vertebra. He was then transferred to a specialty hospital with a neurologist, where further testing revealed the full extent of the damage:

At the moment, he cannot move or control any of his limbs — but he can still feel pain, which gives us some hope.

The current plan is to bring him home for about a week of closely monitored rest and care. If he shows any signs of improvement or regains even small amounts of movement, it will increase the chances that he can recover from the complex spinal surgery he’ll need to stabilize his neck and give him a shot at walking again. Right now, his prognosis is uncertain, but we are doing everything we can to give him that chance.

We adopted him just two months ago from a rescue that saved him from a puppy mill. He had only just begun to discover what it meant to feel safe, loved, and free — and now this. It's heartbreaking beyond words.

We’re asking for help to cover:

Neurological exams, CT scans, and MRI

Hospitalization and specialized care

Surgery to stabilize his spine

Rehabilitation and recovery expenses

Possible long-term mobility support if he doesn’t regain full function

This has all been sudden, devastating, and unbelievably expensive. Any amount you can give, or even just sharing his story, would mean the world to us and to him. We’re trying to give him every possible chance at the life he was just starting to discover.
