RIFF RAFF - Short Film Fundraiser
Donation protected

Set in the fictional county of Howlsby, South-East of London, Riff Raff is a grimey football comedy harkening back to sports films of the 1970s, including Gregory's Girl, The Mean Machine, The Bad News Bears and M*A*S*H*.

The 10-minute film's plot revolves around a sordid Sunday league manager delving deep into the reasons why the league's scrupulous referee has had enough of him and his squad of misfits, the Rimmerton Riffers. Meanwhile, the Riffers get to work sabotaging that morning's match.
Riff Raff, whilst being a raucous farce, explores the intricacies of what it means to win and lose. Darrin, the manager, is a washed-up old scrote, whilst Jed, the ref, is a stink in the mud nowhere man. Both think they've won in life, whilst believing the other lost. Using football as a familiar foreground, we hope to use The Beautiful Game as a springboard into making a long-lasting impression on you, whilst also delivering kinetic comedy showcasing Rimmerton F.C's very illegal antics.

Starring a varied cast of seasoned professionals and up and comers, Riff Raff's laughs come from the collection of characters we've assembled based on a huge amount of inspirations. We've drawn from real life figures to cartoon characters and professional wrestlers. Can you catch 'em all?

Among the most important elements of Riff Raff's production is it's costumes, designed by SHANNON HEWETT. The Rimmerton F.C. kit is fitted with a funky, psychedelic design which we're still not sure is ugly or genius, as well as a custom logo. Rimmertons rival, the doomed Dossingham F.C., have a specially designed sponsorship as well as their own stripes and logo. Each kit will be specially fitted with more unique knick knacks to represent it's wearer.

Tentatively, the film is to be primarily shot on the famous Hackney Marshes football pitches, which will double as Rimmerton Common in the world of Riff Raff. Shooting will commence 11th September until 14th.

HUGO LAI is Riff Raff's cinematographer. Hugo boasts a robust resume of work from over the last few years, from commercial work to narrative fiction and music videos. His work can be viewed at on his delicious website. You should your eyes a bone and feast on his skill behind the lens.

LUCY WOOLLARD is Riff Raff's producer. Injecting herself into every department of this film, Lucy has maintained a steady course for production and refuses to settle for anything less than stellar. By day she can be found in the Shoreditch offices of RAW TV, by night she hustles to secure only the best locations, actors and script drafts.

GEORGE NAJSAREK is Riff Raff's writer and director, and also the one writing all of this (so excuse the self-masturbatory paragraph). George has been cutting his baby teeth making university films other people thought were either too big or too weird to make, and then reaping the rewards of those people being wrong. Now he's graduated, it's time he put his life-long studies in film to the ultimate test. Having injected all his love, time and effort into Riff Raff, George is ecstatic for you to meet the Riffers in all their grubby glory.

This fundraiser is not to cover the bulk of production, however, if you'd be so kind as to donate what you feel is generous to a crew of up and comers trying to make something that stands out, it would mean the world to us. This fundraiser can help us cover costs accumulated over the course of production, as well as travel and hospitality for crew. Any leftover money can be spent on post-production and festival distribution.
Any and all donations from people above £20 will receive a special thanks in the credits.
We appreciate you taking the time to look into our project. We owe you an eternal thank you, and good luck wherever you may find yourself.
